  1. go to www.whatismyip.com

  2. jmorge's method will get you your external IP address.  jaxx563's first method (for Vista or XP) will get you your internal IP address.  They may be the same and they may be different, depending on how you connect to the internet (whether there's a NAT device - usually a router - between you and the internet).

  3. click start menu on windows.  if you are operating XP you will see a "run" option, click on that and enter "command" that will bring up your command prompt page.  at the blinking cursor type  "ipconfig"

this will give you your IP address , default gateway, MAC address and several other bits of information.

IF you are running Vista click start option, At he bottom you will see a window that says "start search"  Type in "command" there and it will bring up the before mentioned command prompt and do the same as above.

Hope this will help you find what you are looking for.

You can also go to the website   www.ipchicken.com    You will find your IP address there but none of the other information

Colanth is right about my post, my method will only work to give you the internal IP if you have a router.  However the www.ipchicken.com site will give you the external address.  I am half asleep and I apologize for the oversight of not explaining that.
