How do I find out what is going on with a missing person from my area?

If someone was reported missing and then nothing has been update on it, no blogs, websites how would I go about finding something out? My children play in the area so it's scary.

Contact the police department and ask them if they've upped patrols in the area. Also, maybe they can tell you whether they think the person was targeted by someone they knew, which would mean the location wasn't a major factor. If you are still very concerned, keep a close eye on your kids when they play there, or find an alternative if possible.
