I know where somebody lived and died last year but I dont know any of the relatives. I know only relatives can get a copy of a death cert in the state. Is there any way to find out?

  1. check the news paper archives in the city that the person died- it should have the old obituarie and it will tell you where they are buried - ask at the cemetary office where they are exactly buried - they will have a map  good luck

  2. I suggest that you post the name, date and place of the person you are looking for.  We do have persons who have access to certain databases (ie newspaper), or, if they don't pick up on the posting, someone else may be able to locate either the obit, or the means to find it.

Another route to try.. if they were in a small town, you can search for the mortuaries, and see if you can find who handled the services.

All you need to do is pull up your question, and chose "edit" to add details.  If it is a day or so, the question might "scroll" and get less bites.. then you could try reposting it.

  3. Do you know the date of the person's death? Sometimes the local newpaper has obituaries and tells details about the funeral and where the burial is. If you can pin it down to the date of death, maybe you could look in the archives of that local newspaper for a couple of weeks from the date of death and see if what you are looking for is there.
