  1. you kinda answered that question yourself. You get fitted. But in general you can find out buy your style of play. The purpose of bounce is to control how easily wedges, with their steep angles of attack, penetrate the ground under the ball. A low- or zero-bounce club has a streamlined profile, and the sharp leading edge of the club will tend to cut into the ground readily. When this is undesirable, the use of a club with more bounce will cause the sole of the club to impact first, keeping the wedge from digging into the surface by causing it to "bounce" across the surface instead. A lot of players like little bounce and control it wby opening the clubface to get the amount of bounce they want in their stroke. Take Phil Mickelson for instance. He plays some of the most amazing flop shots in the game. He uses a 64 degree wedge with a very low bounce so that the can open up the clubface nice and wide and still get the club under the ball. A high bounce on the other hand is for a player like Zach Johnson. Last year's Masters winner plays a very high bounced wedge. He likes to bump and run chips from as far a twenty yards away from the green. He needs his club not to get under that ball too far that he digs ground with the face more upright. So what do you like to play? For me, I have low bounced wedges because if I use a wedge, wherever my shot lands I want it to stick so I open the faces of my wedges when I use them. If I need to bump and run I do that with an 8i.

  2. Tell it truthfully,!! Is your swing grooved so well that you can notice the effect of a 2 degree difference in bounce? Extremely few pros on the tour can make such a distinction. As for the width of the sole of lob , sand and regular pitching wedges, the flange of the sand wedge is the widest so that it will skim through the sand without too much digging. The others; the lob, the gap and the pitching wedges are primarily for fairways  which require a ball turf sequence for proper shot making. Hence, their flanges have to cut into the turf so they are narrower.

  3. Without going to a golf pro for a custom fitting, I would recommend you try to figure out what type of shots you hit the most, and then take the great detailed information in some of the other answers that explains how bounce angle works and make your purchase on that basis.

  4. Well googie, I certainly can tell a 2* bounce difference, and I am not a tour pro. 4* is a huge difference.

But to answer the question… if you like to flop the ball you will like a low bounce. If you bump and run, or hit low shots into a green more bounce may help.  Lob wedges are more suited for flop shots, hence the lower bounce.

Go with a 56* with 10* bounce, the standard.

As your game advances you will figure out the answer to you own question.

Don’t forget, changing the loft will change the bounce. Your 56* with 10* bounce, can be bent into a 54* with 8* bounce, that’s what I am playing with. I can still flop it, but the lower loft helps with longer shots.

    Good luck!

  5. You really have to try them to determine what works best for you.  It also depends on the most common types of shots you hit where you play the most and what the turf is like.  A lot of bounce is good from the sand, but very difficult to hit off a tight or hardpan type lie.  If the turf is hard the high bounce club will bounce off the hard turf and you will blade the ball over the green so lower bounce on the lob wedges.  By the way, are you as cute as your avatar?
