Question:

How do I find out which bank has bought a previous bank???

Long story short... I'm searching for old family money that I know, for certain, exists.

I had a relative in the mid 1800s that opened a bank in Ohio. I recently found the name and incorporation dates. The bank has since been purchased by another bank and I can't figure out by whom it was purchased.

Looking for a database of bank purchases or something similiar. (if it exists)

Thanks!

  1. You can try searching the name of the bank that your relative opened on Yahoo or Google or Wikipedia. Maybe some page about the history of the bank will turn up. You might even be able to ask your grandparents, or other relatives.

I personally dont think there is a database of all the bank purchases because there is a lot of banks and many purchases through out the past and even today. Sorry.
