How do I find out who the owner of a property next to mine is?

I need information about the owner of the property next to mine, im interested in buying it but dont know who owns it no one lives in it, its deserted and full of trees and plants. Its been like this for years so how could i find out about this i live in Houston,Tx.

  1. Look on your town or county website, you should be able to look up the tax recods online.


  2. Go here and input the address     http://www.hcad.org/

  3. county tax accessors office would have that info - its public record.

  5. I have always been able to find this information on line in my state and those surrounding me - BUT  Houston County  seems to be very private with this information.  You could try e-mailing the county surveyor (might save a trip down there) you can find his address on this page.

  6. Call your local tax accessor and they will tell you.

  7. Go down to county records on look it up.  It's free and available to anyone who wants to look.  They normally are pretty helpful in telling you how to search.  In this case it's probably just by street adress....then owner info pops up.

  8. go to the county assessor & see who the tax bills go to or at least get a PIN, then check the county recorder to find out who signed the mortgage.
