  1. Y=mx+b is the equation for a linear line.

    if it has no slope, then m=0.

    -4 is the x value and 9 is the y value.  if the y value never changes (there is no slope, right?) then the y intercept (b)=9

    so the equation is y=0x+9, but since 0 multiplied by anything is 0, then the equation is actually y=b.

    x=-4

  2. you plug in 9 for y and -4 for x in the y=mx+b formula(the m is slope(0)) !

  3. the line equation is x=-4

    When there is no slope, the line must be vertical, and in the equation, the y(vertical) can be anything.

  4. the equation is X=-4.

  5. The only time a line has no slope is when it is vertical. Therefore, your line will be x = something. Because it has to go through (-4,9), the equation must be x = -4.
