  9. When you purchased your home I'm assuming you had a title search done.  (Usually done through an attorney's office)  They can provide to you a copy of the title search.  A typical title search goes back about 50 years.  The search results should show you who bought it, when, etc.  Your mortgage lender (I'm assuming you have one) always requires a title search prior to the lending of funds, etc.  This is to see what liens are against the property, and/or taxes which may be owed.  In the event this information is not provided to you (for whatever reason), you can always go to your local Register of Deeds (may be called something else in your location) but its where all Deeds are recorded and do a search yourself.  A lot of this information is provided through their websites online.  You may also try that.  Hope this helps.
