We live in Chicago and have found a tropical bird with an identification band. Help me find out how to hook up with the owners of their pet.

  1. that 1st person iz right

  2. I douibt if it will help any.  Most leg bands are for the breeder to keep track of the bird as far as hatch date, parents, cage, vaccines, and shipping.  They do keep track of the pet stores they sell to, but in most cases, a leg band will not help you find the owner unless it is a small bird like a love bird or something.  Some small time breeders actually have their names on the bands.   Please read my profile.

  3. To be honest, I don't know, but a vet will and can help fine the owner for you. They usually hear about it when animals go missing too and can be a big help, so I go to a vet.

  4. you can check out the lost bird web site listed below,  put up signs, and check with the animal society and area vets..  since birds may travel a way you may want to call bird vets outside your immediate area.
