I have a Mazda mx5, which I have owned for several years, whenever I have asked for insurance quotes there has often been questions as to the specific model name, I have always thought it was a 'Nevada', but my insurance company are advising me to check, as my insurance may be void. I have the log book, and all the other details, are there good sites where I can check?

  1. It depends on the year, at first the only MX5 was the Miata (or Enos in other countries).

Now there are sports, touring and grand touring, I am sure that there were other model names (there was one that was for the spec racing group but I don't remember the names).

The model as to do with standard features and this varies by year.

Some identity models by NA, NB, an NC which are determined by model years which I don't believe your insurance company is looking for.

So do some research on what models were made for your year Miata and see which one matchs your trim.

  2. was this vehicle an import by any chance? that would make a difference. if you do an insurance quote on line, you can enter your reg no and it will bring up all the vehicle details.
