I have to answer questions for my ast 101 class, and one of the questions is; What constellation is (Planet) in right now?

I have done a few searches online but none of them helped even in the slightest.

Thanks in advanced

  1. In addition to Skymaster's suggestions, I also recommend the following FREE star charting software, which will allow you to see for yourself where the planets are in relationship to the constellations:

    http://www.stargazing.net/astropc/

    http://www.fourmilab.ch/homeplanet/homep...

    and, especially....

    http://www.stellarium.org/

    Which has mindblowing graphics.

  2. idk but yesterday i saw venus

  3. Do your own work! Just kidding, get stellarium, download it for free, set your position and time, and look. Which college do you go to? Can you e-mail me some info, I am looking at some colleges

    now.

  4. Good suggestions from the others, the interactive sky charts on the sky & tel site, even google earth has the sky in it now, click the icon near the top of the page which looks like saturn, be sure to click on the check boxes for "our solar system" and the individual planets, lower left box.

  5. Well you did not do a very good search is all I can say.

What you need is an ephemeris of the planets, go to a site like www.skyandtelescope.com or www.astromomy.com, or www.heavensabove.com there are literally scores upon scores of sites which will give you all the info you need.

  6. there are many good sources..

  7. so just what *did* you look for, bcuz this information is everywhere?

sky & telescope is a good place to start.

or even just look at the sky on a clear night. you can eyeball mars, jupiter and saturn.

  8. Good sources that i like to use are the online astronomy publications of Astronomy.com and SkyandTelescope.com.
