How do I fit in at a new school?

I recently came to the U.S. from the Philippines. I was a bit popular in my old school but I don't think I'll fit in here because of my race. I'm a little nervous because I might mess up. I'd really appreciate your help. Thanks :)

the best way to fit in is to not cause problems or make enemies...just try to be nice to everyone and friends should come your way...try to make conversations with lots of people

Yo Honestly Just Be Urslef Theres Always Nice PPl Even In The Worst crowd's Trust me dont change urself  4 other ppl and if u dont know much English i bet there will be tons of ppl speaking Spanish so be ur self

don't worry about it. the people at the average school will not care at all what race you are. there must be a reason you were so popular back in the Philippines, you'll do just fine here too.

don't try to fit in. what i mean is don't try too hard. don't laugh at a joke if its not funny (even if the person telling it is popular).

join lots of sports and after school activities and stuff. people like a familiar face.

when your talking to people be interested in them. ask them what their hobbies are, and stuff.

never lie or talk behind someones back.

be yourself.

you know who you are. focus on that. eventually people will get to see that. join clubs and sports. it will really help you meet new people and be outgoing

Don't try to be someone you are not because people will notice if you are. I am half Thai and I fit in with lots of people. Some people teased me in the past, but I honestly didn't have time for immature losers. Don't worry about a thing! :)

well, it depends on what group you're trying to socialize with. if you want to continue to be popular and hang out with those kids, then definitely do some extracurricular activities like: cheerleading, track, band, dance team, student council, etc....sometime to show people that you exist and that you are outgoing. Also, be friendly with everyone. Even its people that you don't like. Race shouldn't be a factor. It's all about personality.

Like the person before me; the key is to be yourself.Obviously you may have idiots that may critisize you or something but dont pay them any mind.I personaly dont see how people can be racist but it exists so you just have too let bygons be bygons and make friends with people that like you for who you are.Im sure once you're here,you will find people to hang out with and make friends with; if anyone gives you trouble or is a@# per say(lol),shrug it off and move on,people like that dont deserve your energy or worry:P

Live your life and be happy.  Others will want to be around you.  Race has a lot less to do with making friends than you think it does.  Being a little nervous is normal.  Just fake it until you make it.  

If you run around unhappy your fears will become reality.

Im Vietnamese and my school is full of whites and some boys call me ching-chong. It can't be worse than that.
