Question:

How do I fix a new american standard toilet that is running?

I live in a leased house that was redone before we moved in. They replaced both toilets with american standard toilets with the yellow box in the tank. If this was an older model tank I could probably fix it. The toilet keeps on running (just a trickle) from the front corners of the bowl. I'd rather not have to call the landlord about a stupid running toilet. I don't like to bother him. So, what do I do?

  1. There should be adjustment screws in your back tank to adjust your float. That is what shuts the water off. Or your flapper could not be sealing well and may need to be replaced or cleaned up. You can shut the water off to the toilet, flush it, and the tank will empty. Now you can clean junk from around the flapper.
