  1. to stop the water make sure it's turned off allt  he way and if it doesn't stop put something over it hope this helps

  2. Depends where it's dripping from, you'll need to remove it with a wrench. It can be dripping from a gasket or water screen and that can be replaced easily and cheap. But if the shower head has deteriorated or broken you'd need to buy a new one. They start at about $10 and go up to about $100 for the fancy ones. You'll find that some will require teflon where you s***w in the shower head which is important to remember and install correctly, but some don't require it.

  3. Tighten the shower head.

  4. TRY THE WASHERS FIRST.

  5. unscrew the head and and make sure to apply sealing tape before you s***w the showerhead back on.  It's only a couple of bucks.  Of course this is assuming the parts aren't cracked.

  6. Teflon& gaskets, a new head, or new handle (aka tap/valves/k***s)

Turn off the water with the k***s or handle, unscrew the head.

If the pipe drips, you need new a new valve(s) (the thing(s) the handle or k***s operate which controls the flow of water)

If not, check for a gasket inside, check it for tears/wear. Replace if necessary.

    VERY IMPORTANT:

wrap the teflon tape, starting at the back of the threads and winding CLOCKWISE around the threaded end of the pipe.

If you do it backwards, it will not do its job properly!

so, when you s***w the head back on, it should hold down the loose end of the teflon, not start unwinding it.

If your faucet still leaks, it almost certainly has internal damage, from cracked plastic, or wear/clogging from hard water deposits or rust, and you need a new head.

I recommend a basic one with adjustable spray, and if you or someone who will be using the shower is tall, one with a flexible hose & head that unhooks from the wall is a godsend.

Good luck, and feel free to email me if you have any follow up questions.

  7. If the shower head is dripping around the threads, you're going to need some Teflon tape (the white rubbery tape that is sold in the plumbing section) and maybe a new shower head.

First, get the Teflon tape - it's available at any hardware store - and turn off the water to the shower head.  Remove the shower head and examine the threads - if they appear to be intact and otherwise OK, simply wrap the threads (not too much, not too little) with the Teflon tape and reinstall the shower head.

That will tend to address any leaks from the threads of the shower head and pipe.  If the shower head itself leaks - time for a new shower head.  You'll need the teflon tape anyway when you install the new shower head, so you might as well get it at the outset.
