How do I fix a stuck zipper?

My jacket is unzipped right now and open...when I try to connect the sides at the bottom, the sipper wont connect and zip up...what do i do to fix it?

  1. Where do you live that you need a jacket in August?  lol


  2. Make sure the slider is positioned correctly at the bottom.

    Check that no fluff or debris is caught inside the slider.

    It it won't slide, try a little soap on the teeth.

  3. Try Jim Beam by the quart.  If you drink the whole thing you won't even care.

  4. Try lubricating it with candle wax.

  5. Make sure the end of the zipper that does not have the slider on it is fully seated into the slider and the metal slot underneath it.   If it isn't fully seated, the slider won't move up because it will be trying to mate teeth on one side with the metal end (which has no teeth) on the other side.  

  6. If the zipper does not slide easily up or down: bar soap, candle wax or pencil lead (it is the graphite in the lead).

    If it does not connect, check (or straighten) the teeth on both zipper sides.  Also, look for loose material/threads getting caught in it.
