I just put my new Alpine type R 12 in a 13x16x18 ported enclosure and found out that there is an air leak in the top corner of the box. You can't tell when the volume is low but when it is turned up it makes a loud buzzing noise. What would be the best way to fix this?

  1. Caulking, hot glue?

glue it from the inside of the enclosure not on the outside....

  2. Construction adhesive would be the best way to fix it because it is what they use to seal the enclosures. You will have to take the carpet off and apply the adhesive, which comes in a caulking tube, to the outside of the enclosure. Try to work it in either using a plastic bag over your finger or some type of gloves. I think liquid nails make a decent kind of construction adhesive. You can find it at any hardware store.

  3. I would use either Liquid nails or a silicone sealant.  Either would work but I would recommend Liquid nails if the gap is large.

If you do use silicone sealant wait until the sealant dries before you put the sub back in.  The fumes from the sealant could possibly damage the sub.

    Good Luck!!!
