How do I fix gages in my car?

I put a new face plate for my gages on my car and i had to take off needles and template behind it, and now they wont even move. so idk.

  1. take a dremel and grind off some of the plastic surronding the needles. the round part at the end of the needle. most likely there pinching the needles so try that. and they will move


  2. Disassembling gauge assembly's is NOT recommended for any reason! Most technicians will not even consider it. Period. It doesn't look difficult, but it is very touchy work. Now you know that!

    I believe that the reason they do not move is because they are dragging on some surface because of being improperly assembled.

    It is possible that with extreme patience and skill you may be able to reassemble the gauges with the correct operating clearances to repair the gauges to proper operation ( the new face plate may be too thick The needles may be pressed too far onto the shafts or any of several other possibilities including a damaged or incorrectly assembled electrical harness or flexible circuit assembly ) if that fails to do the trick you are going to have replace the gauges.
