Question:

How do I fix my Duvet (Down Comforter)? ?

I decided to wash my duvet in the washing machine. After, I placed it in the dryer with a pair of sneakers, a softball, and a dryer ball. I read before that this will disperse the feathers. Right now, the feathers are stuck on the sides and very little in the middle. I been doing this for little less than 1 hour.

Should I continue or is there anything else I can do?

  1. Take the comforter out of the dryer and try to redistribute the feathers toward the center of the comforter by shaking it.  I would definitely remove the sneakers and tennis ball (never heard of that before, seems like the sneakers would push the feathers to one side by their weight) and leave the dryer ball in the dryer.

  2. You should try to spread them out the best that you can (till you are tired of it.) then go hang it outside so it can completely dry (the feathers are clumpy cause they are wet. Then manually try shake it even once you are sure it's dry. Next time you need a down comforter make sure you buy one that has the feathers divided into rows and columns so if you was it it doesn't get all compacted into a corner.
