Not a baby car seat. The driver side car seat of my '99 Ford Explorer just completely gave out on me while i was driving. It just flops around. It won't stay up. I played with the lever... nothing. I have a few questions... How dangerous is this? What could be the problem? How much will it cost to get it fixed? (questions in order of importance... 3,1,2.

  1. Better off to go to a salvage yard and replace it than to fix it.

Keep in mind, alot of vehicles use  crossover parts, meaning they were used in multiple models of cars.

In order to fix the seat, upholstery has to come off,and it has to be welded.

But chances are it will break again.

    To repair it,probably 300 bucks.

Less than that to replace with a used one.

  2. buy a new one is safer
