My dvd drive automatically ejects randomly, and sometimes when I want to open it, it instantly wants to close back again. Are there any solutions to this problem?

  1. If your DVD Rom is rather old, that might be the problem. But if its an ok DVD Rom, you should take these into consideration; Your drivers might be outa date, so your computer might have trouble performing commands sent from it. Go to HP.com for updates on drives. Also, try to clean out your computer. It might have some dirt in its skirt/not be attached completly. Wish you luck!

  2. IVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM MANY TIMES.YOU CAN TRY TO REMOVE THE DRIVE AND PHYSICALLY CLEAN IT AND RE-INSTALL THE DRIVE.THAT USUALLY WONT FIX THE PROBLEM THOUGH,ALTHOUGH IT DID FOR ME ONCE.I USUALLY REPLACE THE DRIVE.THEY ARE REALLY CHEAP NOW A DAYS AND USUALLY COME WITH DVD VIDEO SOFTWARE FOR IT.TRY TIGER DIRECT OR NEWEGG FOR A REPLACEMENT OEM VERSION.
