Question:

How do I fix my garage door?

I think I need to realign the door sensors for my garage door- the remotes wont close the door, it will only start to go down but then go back up as if there was an obstruction infront of the door when there is not. The only way to close the door is hold down the button in the garage until the door is completely closed. I tryed to realign them, trying to get the light on each sensor to turn on, but the lights never turn on. Could they be broken? Is there anyway to check to see if each individual sensor is getting power? I tried reseting the entire system by unplugging and replugging it but it does not work. Any thing I can do?

If it helps i have a Lift-Master 1/3H.P security.

  1. I had the exact same problem. The problem is the sensors on the door are not quite correct. Even if the lights come on as in the manual, they are still not aligned correctly. Keep moving them slightly each time until they align. It will work, just be patient.

  2. Do the lights blink when the door goes back up? If so your sensors are not quite ligned up. The light on both sensors has to be on for the door to come down. Make sure there is no obstruction. Sometimes the sensors go bad but it is not a common problem.

  3. Call the company that you ordered the door from. Tell them about your problem with this door.  They will be the best to help you.  and its probably something that they can fix
