The trees are about 15 years old about three years ago they started getting the brown rot. not only this, but one tree was infested with termites which i think we have gotten rid of. The trees ar not producing like they used to onlylike 10 peaches on each tree. there big treesi just don't understand why they are not producing. I spray the trees with malethion every 7 days after the blooms form into peaches but i still experience the brown rot. I also noticed sap on the outside of the tree branches. Is there anything i can do about this or would it be better just to plant new ones? I also fertilize them.

  1. Factors that can cause this:

Not enough sunlight- most peach trees need at least 7 hours of direct sunlight a day. Without this they eventually weaken and are prone to disease which will cause these sap issues which then attract insects which then can ruin the tree.

Other factors are a blight  that seems to be devastating peach tree especially in the northeast USA where the colder  winters seem to make them susceptible. They seem to get a blight from evergreens like spruce trees. It is known that they do not grow well in close proximity to pines and spruces.

You may be able to help your peach trees by adding Limestone to the soil around them (pellets last longer) feed twice a year about 2 cups per yard in height. Also running a hose slowly on the roots once a week especially during heat waves and in the late fall.

Protecting this tree with burlap during the winter may help to minimizing the effects of deep freezing. and increase its resistance to blight and injury.

  2. sounds like they are infested with critters or a disease, give it the old colledge try, but you find yourself replacing them.

    Best of luck to you
