How do I fix my seatbelt snap?

my seatbelt won't snap shut.

  1. First, make sure there isn't something stuck in it like a coin. If the buckle is defective, buy a new one from the dealer.  I don't recommend that you trust your life to one out of a wrecked or junk car.


  2. I guess you mean the buckle?

    It's probable that the little spring detent inside the buckle has broken. You'll need to replace the whole piece of the belt.

    Best bet is to get one from a wrecking yard, they are normally held in place by large bolts in the floor pan or side pillars.

  3. try taking it apart first.

    I had this with one of the ones in my backseat too

    it was jammed with dirt

    I cleaned it out and sprayed it with a little WD-40.  It works like a charm now !
