I have a older kenmore 70 series and the problem I am having is that the machine will run, but will not fill with cold water. I have checked for clogs and there are none. I has told that it may be an actuator, but not sure. If it is how would I go about fixing it? any help or direction will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance for your help!

  1. It actually could be the pump that is not pumping water in to the machine anymore.  If you don`t have the funds to buy a new washer because its not going to be cheap or easy to fix. My suggestion is go to www.Freecycle.com, put in your local city it will come up with a group that is near you. and includes your area and go post for a washer and if anyone has one they are looking to rid them selves of that still works all you have to do is go pick it up and walla you have a washer that works. www.freecycle.com is a great place to get the things you need and get rid of the ones you don`t want anymore.

  2. The cold water valves fill up with things from the water over the years they slow down water flow and need to be replaced the new valve is around 10.00 dollars new but changing it takes some doing sometimes.

  3. Kenmore has its own service people who can diagnose and treat the problem.   you can contact them thru Sears.  of course, a more energy efficient machine will save you lotsa money on water & electricity.  browse the local stores for prices.

  4. get a new one....it is like 2 times older than me =)

  5. Sounds like the cold water actuator. It is behind the part where you connect the cold water hose. It opens and closes to allow water into the machine. Sounds like your is closed. The only way I know, it to either test it, or buy a new actuator. They are not expensive,
