How do I fix (not shut off-I did that already) an outside faucet that won't stop running?

  1. you will have to shut off  at your main, then you will need the repair kit for that type of faucet, can probably be purchased at any local hardware or plumbing supply, your packing nut is probably worn out and is not turning the stem in far enough to shut off the supply

  3. Mr. G. is right but before you do all that  change the washer.

  4. I would just replace it. The new one should cost less then $10.00, and only take 5 min. to change out. To try to repair it will take a lot longer and lots............... more frustration. Oh yes, don't forget to turn off the main water supply first.

  5. You didn't say what you did that didn't work.  If the washer replacement doesn't work the seat may be bad that the washer sits on.  It should feel smooth it you rub it with your finger.
