Question:

How do I fix this Sony DSC-W80 file transfer error?

I'm not able to transfer movie files from my Sony DSC-W80 to the PC via USB. Even if picture transfer works fine, I get a kind of "I/O error" message when trying to transfer movie files.

This happens on my desktop PC only. I've tested with my laptop and the transfer worked fine... Additionally, I'm pretty sure it used to work fine on the desktop also.

Why does this happen? Has anyone solved this problem? How?

  1. I say check the formatting of the videos you record. Vista tend to not work with certain things. Check on the vista site to see what formats that are and not taken. It also should be an option within your camera that lets you change the format of recording.

    Hope it helps!

  2. I have the same problem, and NOBODY seems to have an answer about it. I even took twice my camera to a Sony technician, and the guy virtually laughed in my face and told me the camera it's totally ok.

It drives me crazy because I USED TO WORK  totally ok on my PC and now it just decided to go kaput. :(

I'll keep on checking your answer, because maybe it could help me too. This camera has a BUG and Sony it seems doesn't care about it.

(On Google you'll find there's NO answer to this mess)
