Question:

How do I fix writing damage on a movie poster?

I bought 11x7 movie poster the other day, but the stupid cashier who was writing the total down decided to write directly over the poster. She pressed too hard, and damaged the poster, indenting the imprint "$7.52" through the receipt onto the poster.

Is there any way how to smooth it out or erase the imprinted numbers, without further damaging the poster? Please help, I really want this to look good.

  1. If you have a steam iron, put the poster face down on a flat clean surface, place a sheet of clean paper over the area that's been dented and (with the iron set on a high heat - NO STEAM!) gently iron over the marks.

I usually use this method for getting rid of creases in movie posters (quads) that have been folded down, so I can mount and frame them, but it should work fine for this as well.
