Question:

How do I fluff a down comforter?

I have a box stitched comforter and my cat decided to mark it. So we took so a laundromat, and the feathers are all clumped on one side of the boxes. Then when I shake it, they go to the other side of the boxes. How do I fluff it back up? Do I just keep working it?

Thank you!

  1. Rottie Mom is right: it needs to be dried for another hour or perhaps even more.

Usually with my duvet I wash it once and dry it four times! It will be fluffed up when fully dry. At this point you won't need a laundromat dryer (unless you don't have one of your own, of course).

  2. Just throw a few dryer balls in the dryer with them.   If you don't have those then tennis balls will work just great as well.  The duvet just needs something to smack them while they are drying to fluff them up.

  3. use your dryer on a low heat, add in a six tennis balls, if you don't have them use 2 pair of sneakers. this what my wife does. have a nice day

  4. ~~When ever you wash anything with fillers (comforters, pillows, down jackets, etc.) add two or three clean tennis balls to the dryer while drying. This keeps the filling from clumping and it comes out just like brand new. You may have to rewash it it then dry it with the balls to get it right again. I've never used them to fix one which has already clumped but hopefully it will work. In the future keep those tennis balls in the dryer with anything stuffed and you will never have this problem again!~~

  5. Take it back to the laundromat and run it in a big dryer for a while.  I think that'll give you the best results.
