  1. you have to get compatible ram such as PC-200 etc google your model with ram type and it should show up.

Or you can go to the Dell website and to Desktop spare parts for sale.

You'll have to buy more ram. It cant be raised simply with a program.

Ram allows for better multi tasking without freezes

  2. Upgrading to more RAM will help you computer run better and more faster. You should have 512 MB, that could be a typo though. Have someone check your computer for sure to see what RAM you have and then go from there to get more.

  3. Find out what type of ram you have, either by going to the dell site and entering your service tag, or use a program like everest to get the details. Then find out how many slots you have for ram, then by the largest amount of ram possible. RAM is very easy to install, you should have no problem installing it. Just make sure to touch a metal part of the case before you handle circuit boards.

  4. sell your monitor, buy a crt monitor (the fat monitor) and buy some RAM sticks.

  5. You have to buy a memory stick and install it into your computer  to increase your RAM.

The benefits are that your computer will run faster and smoother.

502MB of RAM is very low.  You are going to want to have atleast 1GB of RAM.

    good luck.

  6. The only way to get more is to buy more. The benefits are faster loading times, computer will start faster and games will play better.

  7. A 2003 laptop will probably take sd-ram or ddr-2100 to ddr-2700; if you're running XP this would be the minimum recommended for anything after SP2. You can goto a site such as the following: http://crucial.com/

Either scan your system or select the make and specific model. THis will tell you the maximum amount of ram you can take and what type it takes.

If you want to proceed with upgrading your RAM you may take into a Circuit City, Staples, or Best Buy and they can setup you up with the right RAM and install it for you for around $40 for the install and somewhere between $30 and $100 for the RAM.

More RAM will make your system more responsive if you have multiple programs open and may make your system boot faster.
