  1. Yes, you can become a Mexican citizen.

The first step is to gain residency.

This can be done in several ways.

    1. Work visa

    2. Economic Dependent visa (Your spouse is Mexican)

    3. You retire in Mexico and rely on foreign income (Social Security)

    4. Invest in Mexico (Open a business)

If you are from a Latin country (Being latino and American doesn't count unless you have Mexican ancestry) then you can apply for citizenship after two years as a temporary resident and another two years as a permanent resident. If you marry a Mexican this also applies as well as having children born in Mexico (if you aren't Latin you can still become a citizen quickly by marrying a Mexican or having children in Mexico).

If you are from the rest of the world, it takes 5 years as a temporary resident and 5 years as a permanent resident to apply for citizenship.

Mexico does recognize dual citizenship as does the US. You won't have any problems.

  2. You don"t Mexico does not allow dual citizenship.

  3. Not a possibility.

  4. Are you really seeking dual citizenship or just permission to reside in Mexico?

Are either of your parents Mexican (by heritage), say THEIR parents were born in Mexico?

Mexico does allow dual nationality (slightly more limited than full citizenship) and in recent years allowed foreign-born applicants whose parents were Mexican to apply for the status.

Are you planning on marrying a Mexican citizen?

If none of these apply to you, you could look into gaining residency status. I'm including a link to a lawyer who explains very generally how this works.
