I have a Giant softshell turtle in my ducks cage and I can not get him out? what do I do? He can't find the door. Is there a way i can get him out? I tried using my pool net but he is too big to fit in there.

  1. That big, it's a she. But anyway. Be very careful moving this turtle, they will gladly take a chunk of skin and meat with them. I would suggest, if it's on land scoot her along from behind with a shovel until she's out of the cage, and let her go about looking for a nesting site (this is usually the only reason softshells leave the water.). If you decide to pick her up, pick her up by the FAR BACK of the shell and keep a close eye on her head, what you think is far enough back, might not be.

  2. get something like a large plastic container or bucket gentally slide it into it (i wouldnt use my hand (this maybe a 2 man job))

  3. Grab a bright vegetable/fruit/flower or whatever it may want to eat and get its attention with it. If it is hungry it should move towards the food and then you should be able to lure it out of the cage. I have a Sulcata and when she gets full size that is how I will have to get her to do anything that I want her to do. It's what the breeder suggested to me so I pass the tip on to you! Hope it works!  Good luck!
