How do I get Firmware for my Pioneer DV-333 so I can unlock the region-code settings?

I tried the hack provided via videohelp.com and apparently, according to another DVD region-code hack site, it doesn't work without firmware updates or something like that. Well, the "display" button simply doesn't do anything when there's no disc in the player, yet there needs to be no disc in the player in order to do this; I even tried inserting the disc I wanted to play after the first step and, of course, that still didn't help...so it must be the firmware. The "display" button works just fine when there's a disc in the player...

you'll have to rent one of these service remotes:

if you can get a code for the dv-333 (like for this DCS-333) for IRremote and you have a nokia with an IR port, you'll probably wont need the service remote above.
