How do I get LimeWire to connect?

Question

I can't get LimeWire Basic to connect so I can search songs. Why isn't it connecting and how do I get it to connect? I already know that my internet is connected and working.

What connection are you using?  I had problems trying to get it to work on my older computer with dial up, yet my husband's computer, though older (windows me) has Broadband, it loaded and worked fine on.  Not sure if that will help you any though.  

Did you allow the entire loading to take place,including about their store home page?  We bypassed it by just giving info we had to put in to get the screens to go. If you don't, it will ask each and every time for you to do so.

Also, did you load the right one for your computer...say for windows me, xp or vista?  Do you have enough memory to support it?  Ask yourself all of these questions first before attempting to load again.

I would suggest you try to remove and load the program again if all of the above questions you answered yes.

maybe you have a firewall turned on , turn it off

If you don't have the latest version you should go to limewire.com and download it from there. (You do NOT need the Pro version, just the latest version which is limewire 4.18.5)

If you have checked that your internet security program is not blocking limewire, I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall limewire based on the instructions here:

Follow the instructions based on the operating system that you have on your machine. Do not forget to delete the specified directories before reinstalling Limewire
