Question:

How do I get a VHS tape out of the player? Without using a hammer, I mean?

I have a combo TV-VCR-DVD, and the tape side decided not to spit out tapes anymore. I started unscrewing things, but only got so far before I was stuck, seeing no more screws and still not getting it apart. I can see that the "flap" on the back of the tape is stuck in an upwards position, and there seems to be some white plastic thing holding it there.

Any ideas?

  1. Uhhh- if it wasn't so heavy I would suggest shaking it,hard. Otherwise I bet someone on here will hand you the answer--good luck. Just be sure its unplugged before you undertake to fix it! If you have the instructions book you could call the factory on Tuesday, unless its in Japan.

  2. Reach with one hand into the tape slot, and feel around the inside top of the slot, you will run into a small plastic lever, if a tape is lodged on a strange angle this lever may not be in proper position, this prevents the eject mechanism from doing an eject when no tape is present in the slot, while holding this lever down, hit the eject button and quickly pull your hand out.  If this does not work and you have removed all the screws, please heed to the fact that most VCR chassis are slid away rather then lifted up.
