Okay I am 15 almost 16 and my arch is my biggest flaw in dance. Everyone else's arches are beautiful while I am nearly flatfooted. I've been danceing ballet for 8 years and pointe for 5 1/2 years and I still have a poor arch. I been told to do plain old point and flexes and the towel excersize but it doesnt seem to be working. What is the BEST thing I can do so that I can have a really good arch?

  1. Have someone, a classmate, a parent, even a teacher stretch your feet for you by pressing and pulling slightly down on your arches, be sure your knees and legs are lengthened and straight and make sure they are not allowing your ankles to sickle while they do it. There are also "foot stretching" devices that can be purchased on line through one of the major dance wear suppliers. Theraband exercises will help with strength. Good luck and I hope this helps you.

  2. Get a ball or water bottle even,  then roll your foot on it sort of like pointe and flex  (sorry).  watch tv or go on the computer or whatever while you do it.  In the long run you will see improvements.

  3. i have the same problem! this is my third year on pointe. my feet are getting stronger. but i just break my shoes in really well and accept my ugly feet : D
