How do I get a birth certificate if I don't know my parents names?

I need this information for verification because I am wanting to retire and Social Security and my retirement requires it.

  1. Well, knowing where you were born would be a big help in getting a birth certificate...also having a social security number would help....

Do you know the county you were born in?  If so, call the clerk's office there.  You might not need to know their names- there may be other information you can provide them to get your birth certificate.  Were you adopted by someone else or were you in the foster care system?  If you were adopted by someone else, they usually make a "new" birth certificate for you.  If you went thru the foster care system, you might want to call an office and speak to someone.
