  1. Only a licensed official can perform marriages. You will need to call your local courthouse, or look on your state government's website, to find out how to get licensed to legally officiate the ceremony. Just filling out a blank marriage certificate and saying a few heartfelt words does NOT legally marry a couple.

  2. You cannot get a blank anything.

And you cannot perform a marriage ceremony unless you are ordained or licensed (both are required in Ohio) according to the laws of your state.  As far as the online ordinations, some states do not recognize them.  You must have a church.

The license comes from your mother & her beloved applying for the license; it is not provided by the officiant but by the state.

A marriage license is permission to marry.  Then someone that is legal must sign the license after solemnizing the marriage & file it with the Court.

If you are "pretending" print one one your computer.

  3. I think it is kind of a sweet idea.....I think your mom would really love that you'd want to its like giving you blessing.  I would contact the nearest court house they could prob. give you the information you need.  Another idea would be to talk to a preacher in the area, they too could prob point you in the right direction.  Good luck and best of luck to your Mom and Step  Dad

  4. I don't know the local laws their, but My cousin who married my husband and I was a notary and in the state of SC she married us. She got the paperwork from the courthouse...wherever you'd go to get married. She filled the papers out, we signed them, then she had to take them back to file them.

Like I said I don't know the laws there, like who can marry people and it be legal, but you might have to have some kind of proof of identity to pick this up....oh and don't forget to file the paperwork or the marriage will not be valid. Good Luck and congrats to mom.

  5. you can get ordained online by the universal life church (ulc.org). as far as the marriage license goes, you cannot obtain 'blank ones'. your mother and her fiance will have to 'apply for one like every one else, and bring it to the ceremony. after the ceremony, you, as the ordained minister would sign it and then file it with your county clerk recorder, in order for it to be a legal marriage.

that is a brief over view but contact your county clerk recorder for specific details.

  6. You need to check with the county courthouse and find out what the requirements are to legally perform marriages in the state of Illinois.  The requirements vary from state to state.

  7. You can get imitation ones, but you have to be licensed by the courts to give out real ones, don't you?
