According to his discharge papers from the British Army, my great- great-grandfather (McAuliffe) was apparently born in the Parish of Québec, in or near the town of Québec in the Province of Lower Canada in 1822. Is there any way for me to obtain a record of his birth? If so, how do I go about doing so?

  1. Do you have his first name. The only Lower Canada Mcauliffe in the British Army that I have is in 1839. His name was John. Thats when he was discharged. If is name is not John it gets tricky. There is a military roll for 1839 of discharged soldiers. Try

  2. I'm using Ancestry (world deluxe version) and searching the Quebec Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967 database.  Can you please provide his first name?

    Thanks!

There was a John McAuliffe, born July 13, 1823.  Could this be your GG Grandfather?
