My TV is clear, but when I put in a DVD I get lines across the TV that looks like ghosts. It is very frustrating.

  1. I would put the blame on the modulator.  Doesn't your TV have any video inputs?  (Comoposite: yellow or s-video: small round 4-pin connector.)  You will get a fairly clear picture from one of these (although s-video is better).  If your TV is so old it does not have a video input, you should get a new RF modulator.

  2. this problem commonly happens if you connect a dvd player through a vcr, it is to protect against copying, however if your dvd player is connected directly to the tv, check that your connections are tight, and make sure you have working cables
