I'm trying to get employed by a reputable bank...everything came back clean as a whistle. However when my finger prints were ran, the FBI showed that I was finger printed for forgery in 1994, but was never convicted or charged due to a malicious accusation by ex-husband. We never went to court...nothing. The charges were dropped. It has never been an issue until now, 14 yrs later. I've contacted the courts...they don't have records that are over 10 yrs old. Police dept did a check...shows no criminal record, but that isn't good enough for the company that's trying to hire me. They need to see the "disposition" on the arrest warrant or court case. However, every where I turn...dead end. Help.

  1. They may be archived somewhere. Try going to a higher-level agency, possibly even to your state Attorney General's officer or the FBI.

  2. go back to court with any records or papers that you may have and ask the court to issue a petition to remove any file the FBI may have pertaining to this issue since there was never a trial or conviction. you know this is a Federal case so the feds are the ones to deal with.

  3. This is a hard one.  I would suggest you bug the agency in which this happened with, due to the fact that, I can almost guarantee you that they will have some type of record of this incident.  Usually, most do

  4. I can see your problem and I do feel for you. Dealing with officialdom on these sort of things can be a nightmare and you can find yourself running around in circles.

The only suggestion I can give you is to try searching for details about yourself on one of the online public records databases. I'm not sure how far back they go but it's worth a shot. The article in the link below talks about getting access to records.

  6. This is not a federal case.

The FBI maintains records in NCIC based solely on what states report to them.  If the arrest was reported, it's on your criminal history and the chances of removing the record of that arrest are probably slim and none, no matter what the final outcome of the investigation was.

Did the investigation go to the local prosecutor's (often called the District Attorney or County Attorney) office for review?  If so, they would have created a record indicating the investigation was declined for prosecution.  Whether that record still exists today is another matter, but perhaps it does.

Did the investigation never even leave the law enforcement agency (because maybe the ex admitted making a false report)?  If that's the case, then you have to deal with whatever law enforcement agency conducted the investigation and again, those records may no longer exist.

If you state also has a record of your arrest (and they likely do, since it was reported to the FBI), they are probably not going to be the people to deal with.  Again, your state only knows what it was told by the agency that conducted the investigation and an arrest is an arrest, no matter the outcome in almost all cases.

    Good luck.

  7. If you go to the clerks office of where you live at they should have record of everything that goes through them courts, or you can try going to the DA office and explain your situation they will be the ones anyway who are gonna send something in to show a disposition anyway. so really i would start with them.
