I'm dating a man who just confessed he has a criminal past. He says he was tried and convicted of a felony in Los Angeles County, Ca about 15 years ago. How can I anonymously get a copy of his court manuscript to verify the facts about his case?

  1. Go to the court where this took place an ask for it. You can go into the lobby, search cases by name, then just ask to see the case. This is done under the Freedom Of Information Act. If you do not live in the area, go to the Superior Court Web Site and search the case by his name. You can order a copy to be sent to you. In most cases you can get the transcript of the court hearing as well as any disposition. You will have to pay for copies. Unless it was a juvenile record they will show it to you. In most cases you can just stand in the lobby and read the case history.

  2. You will have to contact the LA County Court and request a copy of it.  It is very unlikely that you can get it anonymously.  Also, be aware, you will likely have to pay for a copy of the documents you want, and an actual transcript can be several hundred pages.  To get a simple copy of the finding of the court and/or the indictment would probably sufficient for what you need to know and would be quite a bit cheaper.  Also, there may be some information you can't gain access to if it has been sealed for some reason.

  3. You can request a transcript from the court clerk where he was convicted. I doubt you can do in anonymously, you will have to fill out a request.

  4. he just confessed to youthat he has a criminal past?????wow, such drama for something that happened 15 years ago!

Are you THAT insecure AND NOSEY that you feel the need to sneak behind the mans back to  find out details??
