It won't turn, but it still hums. The allen wrench doesn't turn it either.

  1. Mine has as safety shutoff on the side, under the sink. I hit the shutoff, and unplug it before I stick my hand in there and yank out whatever is jamming the works. I know it sounds scary- but the power is off & I'm not pulling out glass. It is usually just a plastic lid.

  2. You have to rock the Allen wrench back and forth until it breaks loose.  I might help if you run the water while doing this.

  3. Check the bottom of the disposal and see if the is a hole for an allen wrench. Most have this just for this purpose. If the allen supplied with the disposal isn't with the unit any longer, you will need to right size. WITH THE POWER OFF, insert the allen wrench and turn it both ways back and forth until it breaks free. Then remove the wrench, remove the rubber flap from in the sink and see what was jambing the unit. If it can be safely removed, remove it so it doesn't get stuck again. Replace the flap in the drain and with he water running turn the power back on.

  4. Something could be jammed in there. I would call a plummber and see if they can come out and fix it for you. That would be the safest way to go if you're not familiar on how to fix them.

  5. Turn the disposer to the off position.  Get down in there with a broomstick or something to loosen the rotors.  When you feel them moving, pull the stick out and turn on the disposer.  This can take several tries before it's effective.  If the motor stops humming, push the reset button.
