  1. WHY ????????????????????????????????????????...

  2. I have a few Vietnamese language programs, which includes Rosetta Stone (???). I found the ones that work best for me were:

    Pimsleur's ( http://pimsleur.com )

    Before You Know It ( http://www.byki.com )

Pimsleur's course is completely on audio CD, which makes it convenient to learn Vietnamese from anywhere other than having to sit in front of your computer. The way the program builds your knowledge is excellent, which helped me master some fundamental Vietnamese very quickly.

Before You Know It is based on an electronic flash card system with some intriguing exercises that helps build vocabulary. BYKI also has a voice recording element that helps with proper pronounciation, which is critical when trying to speaking a tonal language. BYKI is not on audio CD, but it compliments Pimsleur's course without dropping another $300 for Rosetta Stone's course.

Personally, I didn't care for Rosetta Stone's course. Not being on audio CD made it difficult for me to learn Vietnamese at my convenience. I also believe the combination of Pimsleur and BYKI was better (and cheaper) than Rosetta Stone. However, that is my opinion.

  3. Rosetta stone is good and you can get a sample put on your computer free of charge by contacting them. but try your library if they dont have cd's they will have cassette tapes or be able to get them for you.   i found it best to use multiple sources.

  4. Rosettastone.com

Not a CD...is a computer program.  But, you can probably find the same cheaper on Ebay.
