How do I get a job in IT/network security while still studying for certification?

I have had some college, and have worked in Environmental for a year and a half. I have found by working in the engineering field, that I have a strong technical side. After experimenting, and watching the IT guys here at work; I seemed to have a knack for computers. The IT guys come to me for information before they go to the administrator. One of them told me that I seem to know enough to just go and take the MSCE exam. After doing much research, I decided to go into network security, which I will have to do some studying for.

But, I want to start working in this field now. I love IT so much, that now I have lost all interest in my current field, which sucks(environmental).

Is there a way to start working in this field now? Does anyone know of website I can go to that may help me with this?

  1. You have to have experience. But you should change your college major and get your degree. In the mean time, just go out and apply. Good Luck!
