How do I get a job working at the make-up and skincare counters in department stores?

Here the UK? I've always loved and experimented with make-up, and would like to think I somehow know what I'm talking about. I was out shopping today and stopped at the Dior counter in House of Fraser and got talking to the woman there. She said she first got her job when she saw it advertised on a board on the other side of store. Has anyone else worked in this environment before?

at my local shopping centre, there is a board which has all the jobs in the centre listed and there are loads there. if not just ask in store if there are any jobs going x
