How do I get a movie onto my iPod Touch?

Question

I've already tried converting the torrent videos I'm trying to sync to my itouch into mp4's, and that h264 one, can't remember what it was exactly but I already tried it. When I add the video to my iTunes library and then to my iTouch it tells me ' "Name of video" was not copied to the iPod "iPod's name" because it cannot be played on this iPod.'

I'm using Windows Vista which comes with it's own converter so all I have to do is rename a file to the right specifications, I know I'm converting the videos right. Please help me.
