  1. Those are hard to come by jobs... usually have to be an apprentice or interns.   Really the jobs are diminishing for  a variety of reasons.

  2. All of the ideas are great but I agree on small market radio stations as mid market stations usually use former talent who have other jobs as fill ins or people in the area that's got experience.

Podcasts, is a new territory and with no way of doing all over like ads and such may or may not harm you possibly

  3. I've been in radio 14 years and am still waiting to get paid.  Good luck.

  4. 1. Put together a demo and mail it to them on cd

    2. Sound better than anyone else they have on there, promise to work more hours and charge less (it helps if you have sales experience or some kind of standing in the community so you would have a built in audience)

    3. Make the follow up calls.

I don't envy anyone trying to break into the business nowadays. They can do a whole day of shows with just one person because you do your voiceparts ahead of time and the computer just drops it in over the course of the day. Sometimes the morning DJ will do a show live til 9AM, then record the rest of the day into the computer, then head out to sell ads for the rest of the day. They still need real people for live remotes, but generally they let salespeople do it nowadays.

    .

  5. Send an air check tape to the station youwant the job at, but you need to hit small market and build up a reputation first
