Question:

How do I get a quote on the NYSE (or NASDAQ) tick?

I'm trying to figure out where to get a live quote on the tick (primarily New York) somewhere on the internet. I'm looking for a site and a symbol. Being that I'm no longer in the industry, I'm not in front of an ADP quote service any more. I'm striking out on Yahoo, Google, Bloomberg, and some brokerage sites (ETrade, Ameritrade.) Please help. Thanks.

  1. If you had been using an ADP quote service you should know that only members of the exchange are permiited to use real time quotes and floor information.   And only approved vendors are permitted to download floor information.

The information you are looking for is not provided by many vendors nor do brokerage firms carry such info since many feel it's not relative.

You'll have to keep trying major brokerage firms that have wirehouse operations or maintain large in-house proprietory positions

    been there done that

  2. I agree with you that actual ticks are not listed free on web sites that I have found. They are generally subscription based or you can get them free from on-line brokerages where you have an account with.
