How do I get a refund from Paypal due to a fraudulent seller?

I bought some computer equipment on an online forum and paid the seller $200 through Paypal. I transferred the money from a checking account not a credit card, and have already filed a dispute and received $10.83 of $200. How do I get the rest back? I have also spoken to other members of the forum who were scammed on the same item so I know there was no mistake.

  1. ask to paypal customer support. they will answer you

  2. You need to escalate the claim on paypal and continue following their directions. Other than that I have no idea what else you can do.

  3. This is a great reason not to buy anything on eBay!!!  It is nothing more than a con artists dream.

eBay can only send letters and emails but have no legal follow up program.

    You are SOL.

  4. $10.83 is apparently all the guy had in his Paypal account.  If he does not have a checking account or credit card on file with Paypal that they can pull the money from, that is all you are going to get.  Paypal will get what they can for you, but you have to give them some time.  Call them and speak to a representative in person to find out what they are doing to get your money.  You can file a claim with your state's attorney general's office.  That will take more time, but you may have better luck with them.
