How do I get a refund from a money order that it turns out I didnt need?

I made a money order out for a deposit on an apartment yesterday, and it turns out that my roommate was denied, so we're going to get it back. How can I get the money back from my money order? I purchased it at Walmart.

just go back to walmart and tell them you want to cash it ... they should do it ... for a percentage ... OR go deposit it to your bank ... wait for it to clear and you have your money back in your bank ...

Go back to walmart and make sure you have that stub that came with the money order.  you don't get the money order fee back... Example, if the money order is written for $500, and the money order cost .79 for a total of $500.79, you only get back $500. You dont get the .79 back for the money order fee..

just take it back to walmart and they will give you back your money, minus the costs you paid to get it, pretty easy

deposit it into your bank account would be the easiest way to go. But, Walmart will take it back it shouldn't be a big deal.
